As usually on Sunday I came to Magnolia Cafe for double espresso and Esther welcomed me warmly. I took a seat in the cafe and looked out the window at 4704 Cahaba River Rd E street.
I called waiter and ordered double espresso with molten chocolate cake. It was hot and stuffy inside but iced cake and double espresso were welcome.
Esther was sitting across the table with a man in his 40. The man had a t-shirt with a photo of former President Barak Obama on the front. Esther talked about the campaign to bring President Obama home from the office to live with them. She talked about how happy he looked.
The man responded saying that it was a shame that the President didn’t live there. Esther told this man that she was an Obama woman who was hoping to see President Obama come home to their home by the end of this year. The man asked Esther about her hope for President Obama to come home.
She said her hope was based on the story of the young man who had a dream and went to work and paid a worker $80 a week. Eventually that worker became president.
The young man ended up on “the grass in the backyard” The worker’s boss was so frustrated that he took his ball and bat and went home but returned the next day with a young man who played in the outfield for the worker.
Obama is the worker and God is the young man playing in the outfield of the worker’s yard. By God’s help, the worker’s boss forgives the worker (obama) for his wrongdoing.
A good lesson by the author If you are following the teachings from these great men and other men around the world, that we must forgive and love our enemies (we were once enemies of God), than we better be practicing this and be doing so in our own lives as people of God who have been redeemed.
Let us strive to be our own personal Jesus and not only focus on how we can look to change things outside of ourselves, but we must change ourselves to be worthy of receiving the blessings of God that are given when we forgive our enemies and walk as people who have been set free from the sins of our past. There are many people in the world and in our churches today who still are not forgiven.
They have been given blessings because of their own wrongdoing and do not know how to ask for forgiveness or to forgive others for their wrongdoing.
We pray that you may be of the few who have been forgiven. We pray that you may experience the healing our Lord has in our lives here on earth today after years of torment from the sins of the past.
