And there we were, stuck in this dilapidated hospital, with no hope of ever leaving. It was like we were being left behind on Earth while the rest of humanity embarked on a new frontier. It was enough to make us consider drastic measures. Maybe we could escape on our own? We could build a raft out of hospital beds and float down the nearby river, hoping against hope that we would find some kind of salvation. But as the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months, our spirits began to falter. We realized that we were never going to leave this place alive. It was like we had been sentenced to a life of eternal confinement, doomed to watch as the rest of the world moved forward without us.
